UV ray bracelets

Last week Mrs T said that we are going to be focusing on science!
So the next day she brought in some of these beads, that changed colour in the sun from these rays called UV rays. So that night we had to find out what UV rays are?
The next day we came back and she asked us " what are UV rays?" A few people put their hands up. They said it was these rays that come from the sun and make us have sun burn and possibly skin cancer.
Later that day we found out a lot of info about these rays and then we got told what the beads were for. They were beads that change coulor,  in the sun. The beads were very expansive so we had to be very careful not to lose them.
We hand knitted the wool. Then when we all finished we got the beads and if they fitted we put the beads on our bracelet and that was our bracelet. Mine fitted on and this is what it looks like now. And also what it looks like when the UV rays hit it!
The beads change colour when they detect Uv rays. This will let us know when we are getting burnt from UV rays from the sun.
So our braclets are actually UV dectectors.

My Treasure Map

In Maths we need to show that we know North, East, South and West. If we were really clever we could show we knew North East, South East, North West and South West. I was really clever.
I chose to use 'Show Me' to share my learning.

Algebra patterns

We are learning about algebra patterns. This is my algebra pattern. These are some patterns that I made. I like the teddy flower heart tree one the best ,because I think it is a really cool idea. I did six patterns. Numbers, shapes, pictures, circles and fruit/vegetables.

Maths Algebra Patterns.

I like this doing algebra patterns because normally when we do algebra, I always learn something new! Also algebra is really fun! This is my algebra patterns in numbers counting in tens. It goes 61 plus 10 equals 71......

Calendar art

This is my calendar art. I did New Zealand as my picture. I like my calendar art because it is colourful and will suit my house. My Mum and Dad will maybe buy my calendar art this year if it is good enough. I think this is a really cool idea.We are doing Aboriginal art for our calendar art.I love calendar art!

3D and 2D shapes

Geometry 2D and 3D shapes
In Room 14 we have been learning to
- Identify shapes in nets by unpacking boxes and drawing around shapes
- Use nets to make 3D shapes

We are learning about 3D and 2D shapes.
We all had to make a box out of paper and take a photo of the net and the completed box. My box didn't have long tabs, so they couldn't reach the ends.

Here is the net of the box and my completed box!
